The Trailer
We had an idea during the pandemic to build an overlanding trailer. Our family had a camper for years, a 2012 Fleetwood popup that we loved. We didn't really travel at all during the pandemic, so the poor girl sat unused. We made a decision to sell her and start a new project - a custom overlanding trailer that was much more compact, off-road capable, but still had most of the features of our pop-up. 18 months of stop and start construction with my friend at Endurance Engineering (he did 99.99% of the hard work - I supplied a lot of beer and hoagies), and we had a working prototype.
She's a work in progress, but here are the main features:
10 gallon fresh water tank with 12v pump
Coleman Roadtrip grill with griddle and burner accessories on a retractable shelf
12v/120v Alpicool fridge/freezer
100ah Lithium Ion battery with 200 watt solar panel and MPPT solar charge controller
Overland Vehicle Systems TMBK3 Rooftop Tent
Overland Vehicle Systems 270 Awning with Sidewalls
33 inch BF Goodrich tires on 17 inch Jeep wheels
3500# Axle with electric brakes and breakaway system
2X3 inch square steel tubular frame with 2X2 inch steel tubular body
Custom aluminum diamond plate body panels
4 Linear actuators to raise the tent platform up to 78 inches
All wiring run through the frame for protection from trail hazzards
3/4 inch pressure treated plywood deck with aluminum trim
Stainless steel marine grade hinges with stainless bolts
As you can imagine, she's built very well..........If you'd like one, let us know....we've got 2 in development.
