September 2024 Vermont Trip

Another successful trip in the books. The Mainline Overland and Ridgeback Guide Service Fall Vermont Blue/Green Ride outside of South Royalton, VT. More pictures are on our Instagram page.

The weekend started off by heading north on Friday around 8:30. Met up with my fellow traveler on the NJ Turnpike and away we went. Got in about 4:00 and set up and started making dinner and cracked open a nice, cold, VT beer. WE stayed at Henderson's Hideaway for the second year in a row. What a nice little, no-frills, basic campground. The owners are super nice and used to overlanders and off-roaders. There is no bathhouse, water, or electric, but for us, that's perfectly fine. There's Porta-Potties onsite, though. Saturday, we woke up, got ready, aired down, and met up with the group in town. A quick stop at the South Royalton Food Co-Op and we were on our way to explore. Ron Harrington of Ridgeback does a great job of organizing the trip and making sure everyone gets a great day of off-roading in. It's a nice mix of some private land and VT class 4 roads that are a good challenge for anyone looking for a blue ride with fantastic scenery.

We ended Saturday with some good food, more wonderful VT beers, and great company. And maybe a new battle scar on my Frontier:

That log jumped out at me, I swear!

Sunday we took in a trip to do a little sightseeing, mild off-roading, and to check out an old cemetery with some graves from Revolutionary War vets. All again, in the stunningly beautiful VT countryside.

Places we Visited/Stopped on this trip:

It's been a pretty eventful year and this fall trip is a wonderful way to start wrapping up the camping season. There's one more trip - The Overland East Expo on October 5-6. See you then!
